Well, friends and family and folks - we did not get it together to do a physical card this year, but it was a very busy year, and we wanted to be sure to fill you all in!
January
2024 started out as most of our years do - with Brian heading back to work at Eastern Michigan University and Jen heading back to Centre College. Still many miles apart, but still doing pretty darn well, all things considered!
February
Brian and Jen both had shows this month, with Brian designing lights for Dontrell Who Kissed the Sea and Jen directing The Inseparables.
March
We're pretty sure March happened in 2024... but we didn't really do much.
April
Brian designed the set for a production of Cyrano at Eastern.
May
To kick off his summer (and a very busy May), Brian came down to Centre to design lights for the Spring Dance Concert!
We went out to Vegas for a couple of days to see a production of Not From Around Here - the play that we wrote last year! It had won first place in the Las Vegas Little Theatre New Play Competition, and the prize is a fully staged production! It was super exciting!
This was also the month when a sweet mama kitty, who we had been feeding for a few months, brought us five perfect kittens. We lost our garage for a few months, but gained the BEST summer I could ever imagine! And please... how can I choose just a few photos?!!? Oh boy. What am I going to do... I'll do my best to control myself...
June
Jen went back to Kent State for a second year to continue her training to become a certified teacher in the Michael Chekhov Technique alongside the bestest group of humans!
July
Jen directed the world premiere of That Book Woman by Holly Hepp-Galvan at The Pioneer Playhouse. It was based on the children's book by Pioneer Playhouse Business Manager Heather Henson!
August
Jen's work brought us back out to New York for another round of The Farm Theater's College Collaboration Project (stay tuned to 2025 for what happens next!). But while we were there, Jen and Brian made time to see a bunch of awesome theatre!
Now on sabbatical, and Mama Kitty and all her kittens adopted out to amazing homes, Jen and the resident kitties moved up to Michigan into a new apartment with Brian where we got to really truly live together for the whole semester! How cool is that?! Jen taught a theatre history class at Eastern Michigan and took up residence at a little desk in the corner of Brian's office.
September
Just a lot of rehearsing and kitties and general married person stuff in September. Here's hoping this living together thing catches on!
October
Brian designed the set for Alice by Heart at Eastern, and Jen directed The Grown-Ups at The Ringwald Theatre in Ferndale, MI. Both productions were SUPER COOL!
November
Jen and Brian got to work together on a show for the first time in 9 years - Jen directed and Brian designed the lights for Silent Sky - which was truly one of the best theatrical experiences we have both had in a very long time!
Also in November the announcement came out that our play - Not From Around Here - will receive its professional premiere in 2025 at The Pioneer Playhouse! Brian will be directing, and Jen will be playing one of the roles! If you're interested in a road trip to Kentucky in the coming year, July 22-August 9 is a great time for it!
December
The semester is at a close, and the sabbatical will end at the end of January, but we are looking back on a really effing cool year! Happy Holidays and New Year to you all! We hope to hug many, many more of you in 2025!
